It’s #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek.
When I saw that this was coming up, I immediately took a moment of self reflection!
Over the past few months, during this global pandemic, the term ‘Mental Health Awareness’ has been used more than ever before. But what does that mean for me in practical terms? How am I looking after my mind in this time? Have I taken the time to really feel the emotions or have I tried to keep calm and carry on, sending myself into a tunnel where eventually there is no bright light?
All of the above questions are relevant, valid and important. The real question is can you answer them honestly, and if so how does that make you feel?
A couple of weeks ago, I took some time out of my usual schedule to have some “alone” time. I asked myself the following questions and I encourage you to do the same:
1) How have you been feeling over the past 8 weeks? List the emotions and if you can, an example of what that looked like in your day.
2) What are you grateful for? Make a list.
3) What would you like to change?
4) What is the action plan post COVID-19?
I encourage you to take stock, take time out and reflect. This time is definitely unprecedented, but there is an opportunity to design, create and build the life you want to see in the future.
